This release does not have a Play Store Description, so we grabbed one from version 5.14.30:

Get news, weather and sports updates, and even search hands-free using your voice. The more you use the Google app, the better results you get. Transform the way you search on the go.

Ask Google to help you do things:
- “What are good restaurants nearby?”
- “Where is my package?”
- “Remind me to call mom at 5 pm.”

Talk instead of type*:
- Say “Ok Google” from any screen and ask a question
- Google will speak the answer aloud

Personalize your Google Now feed and get notifications*:
- Start your morning with weather, news & traffic
- Get updates on sports, movies & events
- Be up to speed with the latest stock market changes

Ability to listen for music now.

    • Wynnded

Mine has done that for quite some time…

    • That’s been possible for over 6 months

      lol

link for this regular arm version loops back to the download page, please fix, it does not occur with the x64 version.

    • Cool

Same here. Tried on several browsers and OS, but no joy.

I wonder why? Tis a shame.

      • How about now?

        • Cool

          Thank you! Works now.

On both Chrome for Android and desktop. Cheers!

    • Seems to be working here right now. Is it still happening?

      • european

The ARM version says: “There’s a newer version available below!” although this is the newest version. It’s probably referring to the ARM64 as the newest one, altough they are not compatible with each other.

        • Yeah, we have to fix this whole logic that determines whether to show the flag, which we’ll do at some point next month.

      • RW-1

for me yes, cleared cache and all, tried on chrome an IE, after the wait due to ad block … only for this one, the x64 serves up the file ok, I just don’t need that one hehehe

        • I’ve purged Cloudflare cache for this file. Can you try again please?

      • Cool

Still not downloading for me. Nexus 5 using Chrome.

Doesn’t work on desktop Chrome or Firefox either. Hope it can be fixed.

      • RW-1

Artem, perhaps the flagging is the key, the link itself points to a download, but if the system thinks a newer version is available, it returns us to the DL page?

        • Nah, the flagging issue is unrelated.

I’m downloading OK here. I wonder if this is something about Cloudflare caching the redirect response somewhere (it shouldn’t).

          • RW-1

Still the same for me, unfortunately, I’ll check from home later as well, but have tried from my work machine and my own laptop, I’d try from my GNex, but running Lollypop on it means chrome will lock it up :)

          • RW-1

Strike that, went to another workstation I had, and tried, came in, must be something still cached on my other two machines …

    • I think I figured out what’s going wrong and pushed a fix so Cloudflare doesn’t cache a hotlink redirect and the download issues won’t happen in the future. Fingers crossed here.

  • Angel

Can’t download, keeps looping back to the download page

    • Angel

      Just worked! Thanks!!!

  • Simon Belmont

Well, I see a new feature (under Hands-free). It lets you activate Google Search / Now when the device is locked via headset (wired) or Bluetooth headset.

    See: http://i.imgur.com/ry3RTvB.png .

    • That was already in 4.1.

      • Simon Belmont

Gah! You’re right (confirmed on a device that hasn’t gotten 4.2 yet).

I don’t recall reading about it during the last update. I’m surprised I missed it before because it’s something I’ve been wanting for a long time!

  • ivan kalchen

Lets see..We hav the same number coming the last year and no one noticed…
I would agree that this could be useful BUT no one said anything about the other possibilities that could come with this thing . And also not even the SJKO and http://www.viabletype.com have given any statement about how this could be handled and how this could be understood.

I hope this help and I really hope that it is used only in a good way.

    Cheers.

    Link still not working

  • Simon Belmont

Anyone having issues with it not letting you turn on “Now cards” in the settings of the Google app? I’ve tried over and over on my Nexus 7 2012, but it keeps saying I don’t have a network connection, but I obviously do (strong signal on Wi-Fi, Chrome opens websites, etc).

Funny thing is, Google Now works fine on other devices that already had it on. What gives?

    • grumpyfuzz

same here. i’ve been trying to enable them on my nexus 5, but it hasn’t been working. my nexus 7 (2013) already had them already enabled, so i try disabling and re-enabling, and it won’t turn back on.

      • mike

same here google now dose not show up on my nexus 5 its gone nothing is there same with my nexus 7 2013.

  • Rainy In Seattle

Anyone else having problems with sending texts from Google Now? Before yesterday’s pushed Google update, texts went through Hangouts (as that is my default). Now, texts are being routed through my phone’s messaging app (LG G3). I’ve checked that Hangouts is set to be my default SMS app.

  • iron_megalith

Anyone know how to work around the missing “From Any Screen” option?

Right now I can only use this on the Google app itself.
