Do we know if there is only one version or are there different variants based on screen resolution?

  • Questoèilmionick✔ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Differences between this (22534506) and (22534502)??

    • Braden Farmer

      06 was pulled from a Nexus 5, 02 from a Nexus 9.

      • Candido

That should be posted in the notes so that we know which version to use. Thanks for the upload.

So, I’m assuming a 2nd Gen Moto X should use the Nexus 5 version 06?

        • Braden Farmer

For now, go with the -506 version.

          • Jc Reyes Garcia

            thank you

Does this fix the bug where you don’t get new notifications for messages when you shut the screen off while in a conversation?

    • aiamkesz

      Same here.

  • Dark_seid

Honestly though, now that it’s out, I don’t see what all the hubbub was about…

  • In case anybody wants to get the correct version for their device. Here are the variants:

-502 is intended for xhdpi devices (e.g. Nexus 9, Nexus 4)
-506 is intended for xxhdpi devices (e.g. Nexus 5)

    • Steph Horvath

      Which one for Nexus 6?

    • Craig

I put 506 on my Nexus 4 and see no issues or problems. Looks fine.

      • The difference between variants is based in the image resources that have been included. Installing 506 onto an xhdpi device will look and work fine, but the images are automatically scaled down, which requires a bit of extra processing (and eats up a little more battery). In some situations, scaling significantly in either direction can lead to images that don’t look quite right, sorta like they’ve been lazily photoshopped.

The point is, it’s not critical to get the right variant (in this case), but there are a couple of reasons to install the correct one. The only time things will cease to work entirely is if there are variants for different processor architectures, like you’ll see with Google Play services.
