Error parsing the package… Cannot install. (arm64)

Same here on my Nexus 5X. I believe it is something on the operating system side though. I tried installing another random apk from this site and got the same error. So it’s not just Messenger. I haven’t figured out the reason or fix yet.

Are you trying to install from the download notification? I had this issue previously and it worked to install if I clicked on the apk from a file explorer instead of tapping on Chrome’s download notification.

        • JSo

I’ve tried both ways. From the notification and from Solid Explorer.

Bummer. It worked to install from the notification on my 6P running 7.1.1.

I’m on 7.1.1 as well. I’ve been told that turning on storage permissions for Package Installer has helped people but there are no permissions for it that I can see. The option is greyed out.
