You can now set Self Assessment payment and filing reminders. We’ve updated the take home pay calculator to include the National Insurance Primary Thresholds for July. And we’ve fixed an issue with Help to Save which was sending too many repeat notifications.

The only app that gives you access to HMRC’s information on your personal tax affairs. Feel in control of your financial life by joining the 400,000 people who use the HMRC app every month. Download the HMRC app from the UK Government today.

Use the HMRC app to:

- check your next salary payment from your employer
- check how much you owe on your Self Assessment and make a payment
- check your next tax credit payments
- find your tax code
- find out how much Income Tax you should pay
- manage and renew your tax credits
- access your Help to Save account
- work out your take-home pay with the tax calculator
- claim a refund if you’ve paid too much tax
- check progress on forms you have sent to HMRC
- read messages from HMRC

Registration is easy and fast. You will need your National Insurance number and date of birth to get started.

Depending on what your phone supports, you can use your face, fingerprint or iris to sign in quickly and securely.

Understanding tax

In the HMRC app you can see details about your job and salary and how your Income Tax, tax-free amount and take-home pay are calculated. If you have any income from a private pension then you can also see this.

You can also see your National Insurance number, Self Assessment Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) and tax code.

Keep track of your tax credits

You can check when tax credits have been paid and when your next tax credits payment is due. You can also renew your tax credits.

Tax calculator

The HMRC tax calculator tells you how much National Insurance and Income Tax you need to pay. You can use it to work out your take-home pay if you change your working hours, the amount you earn changes or you get a new job.

Help to Save

Help to Save is a government savings account for people claiming tax credits and some other benefits. It gives you a bonus of 50p for every £1 you save. Find out if you are eligible for Help to Save in the app.

In the app you can track your savings and see how much your bonus is. You can set up savings reminders so that you remember to save each month.

Form tracker

Form tracker lets you find out when you can expect a response to forms you have sent to HMRC.
