Why is not installing it over the 6.2?

    • They changed the package name (pname), so it installs as a separate app because of that.

      • Luca Comellini

So how they will push the update?

        • They will probably publish this new Gmail specific Exchange app to the Play Store. Or maybe they won’t. I don’t think they do that for the existing Exchange app, so it’s only updated with new Android builds.

My guess is they’ll publish it in the Play Store though, as it targets Gmail specifically now (unless there are some patents or royalties that would prevent them from doing so that I’m unaware of).

What is the hang up on having peak/off-peak sync settings? I have to assume it’s not difficult and there is some other reason…

  • Zong Gu

Why why WHY still no SELECT ALL function?!

  • jd

No conversation view for the exchange side….very disappointing

  • Ahmed Ghousheh

what is the use of this? i have been using Gmail 5.0 since yesterday and i manged to link many accounts without this, should i download it?

    • jeesung

only if you want to link an Exchange account. IMAP & POP are fine without it.

      • guido cusano

why can’t I configure my exchange account?
I’ve already installed the two apks, I insert address & pw.
I use default server, default port 443, SSL/TLS security. Response: impossible to connect with the serve. can you help me?

        • Rob

          I’m having the same problem…

          • Morten

            see my reply above.

          • Rob

I’m using the exact same settings that works with the original email client.

          • Arjona Jones

Same issue here; I’m using a certificate, and the same setup that works i the original email client does not work with Gmail 5.0 :( This is disheartening.

            The error I get is:
            “Couldn’t Finish”

“Couldn’t open connection to the server.”

            “Edit Details”.

          • Abel

I have exactly the same issue. I tried what I read above. So I “disabled” Exchange app since I can’t uninstall it (am I missing something here?). I then set Gmail as factory install and enable the Exchange app I disabled before (I can install an older version of Exchange apk like 6.0 or 6.2, but not 6.5 since I already have the one disabled). After that I updat Gmail via Play store. But still the same issue. Am I doing something wrong?

        • Morten

You probably need to find out the correct server name. Ask your IT department or ask someone who already use exchange on their phone.

And if you eventually get a “wrong credetials” error, be aware that the email is usually not the same as the username.

  • John Knorr

I got it to install, and got my exchange account to sync but it keeps crashing “Unfortunately, Exchange Services has stopped”. I could send an email, but when I refresh, it crashes. Won’t show emails from sooner than a few weeks ago.

    • Phatt J.

      I have a same problem.

    • Hessam Shahriari

I had the same issue, and I got it to work. You need to uninstall Gmail app, and restore it to the “factory version”. Then install Exchange services, go to App store, and update your Gmail. Worked on Galaxy S5.

Exchange account installed on my S3. Keeps crashing !

    • Morten

      Same on my S3.

  • ckilps

Is anyone see a force closed down on exchange after install and setup

  • cs

it hangs on “getting your messages.” would love to know how to remove an exchange account from the new gmail app since it’s clearly not ready for prime time.

    • Donnie Darko

Gmail 5.0 (1564237) is now available from Play. I had loaded Gmail 5.0 (1556543) with bad results. It was very unstable on an HTC One M7. 1564237 so far seems to be solid. I also loaded Exchange Services 6.5-1520254 addon that did not work at all with Gmail 5.0 (1556543). Syncing Exchange didn’t work at all and you could not delete out the Exchange account once it was added. The only way to I was able to fix it was remove the Exchange apk, revert Gmail back to factory install then install an older version. After that Play would pick up the app updates normally.

    • ahk3

Go to your PC’s gmail settings > Accounts and Import, and delete the exchange account from there.

  • VJ

Unable to receive notifications when I receive an e-mail directly into folders other than inbox.

  • Faisal Al-Ansari

it keep crashing with me too , i keep getting “Unfortunately, Exchange Services”!!!

  • Vittorio Cattabriga

i install it on my galaxy s3 with CM11 installed and everything seems working fine except when i try to add or change an exchange contact… it is not possible to add or change a contact from an exchange account… it is normal???

    • Trusty

Nexus4 – Android 4.4.4 – I have the same problem… anyone has found a solution for this problem????

  • Does this install over the Exchange2.apk in /system/app ?

  • Mike Lawrence

bummer. exchange email without conversation view is unusable

  • M8 User

my problem is battery drainage. I am using HTC M8 and usually it can last 2 days with a full charge. Since the exchange services was installed, my phone can only last one day. It’s about 50% drainage! Hope Google fixes it as soon as possible. Please don’t let it be a sore thumb.

  • Colin

Have just flashed CM11 to my Galaxy S3; plus the ExchangeNoPin file. Can get thru to Account Settings but then the app crashes. Trying to connect to my work email/calendar but Exchange doesnt like it….

  • Michael Pahl

Limits attachment size to 5MB eventhough the server allows 25MB (O365)
