To figure out the right version of Google Play services for your Android device, download Play Services info or go to Settings -> Apps -> Google Play services, and look at the 3-digit sequence (let's use XYZ) in the parentheses:

* X defines Android version:

  • 0 for Android <5.0
  • 2 for Android 5.0 and 5.1 starting with Play Services v8
  • 4 for Android 5.0 and 5.1 before Play Services v8, Android >= 6.0 after
  • 5 for Android Wear
  • 7 for Android 5.0
  • 8 for Android TV
  • 9 for Android 8.0+

* Y defines CPU architecture:

  • 1 for armeabi
  • 3 for armeabi-v7a
  • 4 for arm64-v8a
  • 5 for mips
  • 7 for x86
  • 8 for x86_64

* Z defines DPI:

  • 0 for universal nodpi
  • 2 for 160
  • 4 for 240
  • 6 for 320
  • 8 for 480

  • It seems that 7YZ builds became 4YZ with Google Play services v6.5. If you were on 7YZ before, you should now install 4YZ.
  • It seems that 4YZ builds got split into 2YZ for Lollipop and 4YZ for Marshmallow with Google Play services v8. If you were on 4YZ before, you should now install 2YZ in Lollipop and 4YZ in Marshmallow.
  • Examples:

    • 014 for Android <5.0 armeabi CPU 240 DPI device
    • 438 for Android 6.0+ armeabi-v7a CPU 480 DPI device
    • 876 for Android TV x86 CPU 320 DPI device
    • 940 for Android 8.0+ arm64 CPU nodpi device

  • Anyone here who’s had their Assistant enabled after installing any of the APK’s here? (I’m asking because it would only take a specific GP Services version to enable it…)

    • Howard Stern ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

      I keep trying with no luck on my v20. Been updating this and the store on the daily.

      • Huh. That’s Google for you in a nutshell. A Rollout that isn’t. FFS

        For reference, I’m trying with an Xperia Z2 on stock MM.

        • LeviYO

          Trusty Z2 dude, I miss her a lot! I’m using Xperia X on 7.1.1 (Concept) and no luck for me unfortunately…

    • It’s likely a server switch that requires a recent (ie 10.2.99+) play services

      • Well, they DID state that you need a specific GP Services version (and maybe those after it as well?) to get it.

  • David S

    Nope. Tried all newest play services & even the beta. Have the latest play Store for good measure as well. No luck. Stock 6P with 7.1.2

  • Tv

    If you’re using OpenGApps, there is an option to enable the assistant. This worked on my phone even before Google announced the availability was expanding.

  • On This versiyon 10.5.37 beta, i got it finally. I use 7.1.1 on GM5 plus. Yapayan Türk arkadaşlarımız varsa yardımcı olabilirim

  • Dimitris Balanos

    So today afternoon I GOT IT!! Just pressed the home button for a screen search and VOILA! “You just got the google assistant”! Some setup screens followed and all is up and running great!
    My config is a Moto G4 Play stock 6.0.1 in US english language, I live in Greece and I am enrolled in both Google app and Play store betas (currently on 10.5.35).
    Conclusion is that the rollout is getting wider, it is totally independent of the place you live in (as some web articles implied) and for the moment is sheer luck getting it – keep pressing the home button though! ;)

    The Netherlands, Europe!!

    This morning I finally got it as well! Before I went to sleep last night I configured my Nexus 6P running on 7.1.2 beta to English (US) settings.
    Running GPServices version 10.5.35 and Google App version 6.14

    • Pasan

      which variation did you download for the GPServices?

      • Gunnardepunnar
